I have an Acer aspire 5920g laptop that wont start. It says the operating software cannot be found! Does anyone know why this would be? How do I reboot it to last good configuration?

It is not finding the master boot record of your hard drive. Or the hard drive is not even being detected. Check the BIOS when you first turn on the computer for Primary Master and see if it's listed next to it. If it is, then you need to run 'fixmbr' from the Recovery Console. Google search for it and that may get ya fixed up.

my girlfriend had this problem on an old Dell. What i did was use the recovery console, chkdsk, fixboot and fixmbr. after that all was well.
