on windows home premium 32bit 2gb of ram opening a 50mb pdf document eats up 300mb and rising. to the point it makes my laptop slow. why is it eating so much RAM? the latest things ive done was an update of windows a last week. havent been on the net till today and i cant read my pdf files. =/
btw ive tested with other files of different sizes its definitely the program because if i leave it running it will continue to eat up RAM. =/

There is Adobe Reader SpeedUp if you really wanna continue using Adobe Reader, but switching to Foxit is better imo.
-
Foxit is the way to go for free viewing, but for form filling, I think you have to pay.
-
There is a feature which allows Adobe to load faster..
But i have dropped Adobe...using Foxit & loving it -
Metamorphical Good computer user
I've been using foxit reader and I like it. Adobe Reader is way to bloated these days.
-
Another vote for Foxit. Adobe is killing themselves by adding so much bloat to the reader. It's just way over the top now.
-
I'm another happy foxit user. You could find this and more software on my best free software for windows thread in case you have more programs running slow for you or something.
-
thanks Calvin...will check it out...btw removed Norton from my system...comp startup time is much much lower now...using Commodo + NOD32

Adobe has addressed this problem. Adobe is coming out with Adobe Reader Light, which is no longer hog eater.

Foxit reader is much better than adobe. I don't see how any other program can do it better. It's small (~5.5 mb), opens pdf files instantly, has plenty of options, and is light on the resources.

I installed Foxit on Dads laptop...i installed FF also...
I am doing all i can to promote such great open Softwares..
Its high time MS stops harassing the market -

Mutually exclusive...
I ve noticed open free softwares are much better...Eg.: FF, Foxit, Commodo, AVG etc etc...
