Anybody know why this happens, certain programs , spybot , smart defrag , austilogic defrag and a few others, when i Minimize a running program.

It leaves a section of the top of the program, it is easy to get rid of this by simple left clicking the image and drag a box around it, but it is annoying.

    I use Vista64 , but this happens in Vista32 with SP1 and SP2 , I have done full formats.

This happens on various notebooks with ATI and NVIDIA GPU`s , but i find the NVIDIA ones required a re-boot or a resolution change to remove certain ones.

    anybody else get this?

do you have aero on or off? this looks like it's off, but that may be part of the bug.

I have turn Aero on and the problem has gone, but i have only for the last couple of months turned Aero off and this has been happening for years.

So it looks like it is a Vista Bug when Aero is turned off.

i thought so. because without aero, it doesn't do full redraws but only updates where needed (just as any windows did before). the result, as we all know, is some wrong paintings may happen (everyone with a crashes explorer knows how 'fun' it is to be able to paint your desktop with some arbitary window :)

it may be some artefact of that kind.

do the problematic apps have skinned windows? i don't know those apps but often such tools have skinned windows which may mess up the windows own drawing routines.

it shoulnd't have happened with aero on, but i've seen it anyways..
