i use winamp with an autoplay plugin and set my task scheduler to run at whatever time i need to wake up. play the music real loud (im a very heavy sleeper) and you'll be good. quite reliable too.

I use citrus alarm clock and have been very pleased with it... there is a free 30 day trial but that period has come and gone... i just have to wait 5 seconds before i can close it as it reminds me i have had it on my computer for 174 days and i has woken me up 198 times or whatever.

    http://bluefive.pair.com/alarm.htm

    First link on Google -.-"

Worked well for me while I was on study abroad in Japan. Cellphone's clock couldnt be used as there is no signal and too cheap to buy an alarm clock.
