Hey everyone. Does anyone know an alternative player than Media Player Classic? WPC is nice and all but it is a little ugly, so is there something else out there that you guys are using?

    (other than vlc)

You could try Realplayer IMO just as good as media player classic

Or you could try the divx player however this is only for movies and will not play audio files of any kind...

zoomplayer is almost as flexible as mpc (doesn't let you watch DVDs unless you pay though) and can look a lot better (you can choose different skins)

mplayer is good too if you're willing to play around with it

there's always itunes for music and even winamp..

    VLC.

Open source. Cross platform. Supports pretty much every video, audio and codec type you can think of.

Yeah, for DVD-Video files PowerDVD is the best. I don't know how well they play other types of video formats though, I never tried.

I used Gom Player and it was very good until i tried some HD files; the performance was terrible (for some).
Browsing through the official forums noticed i was not the only one with that problem.
All the other players (vlc, kmp) played those "heavy" media without any problems.
But that was 3 4 versions ago....
Now i use KMPlayer and i'm happy with it.

PS: some mentioned BSPlayer, be careful, because the latest free versions have spyware.

Media Center 12 is quite nice if you can stand using something that works alot like WMP.

    Im with Slowdive
I use KMPlayer, aka Korea Media Player

I like it very much. It plays alot of formats I think, at least everything I need it to play.

    Old versions are good.
Unfortunately it's crammed with ad/spyware now...

I like VLC and Gom player.

VLC is still the top pick though, its now become the second program I install on all of my new computers, after Firefox.
