This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    i dont have xp pro but i want to play around with ubuntu

    anyone know of any free alternatives?

    VMPlayer. Exactly what you want. Completely free and has an Ubuntu 5.10 'Browser Appliance' already set up for VMP ready for download as well as consumer submitted 6.06 installs. Get it at www.vmware.com.

    The free VMWare Player only allows using pre-built VM machines, you cannot create your own.
