Just started playing with this, and I got lotsa questions that my googling hasn't resolved...

    1) So I create a Virtual XP Mode instance, and sure enough, it works just like good old XP. Even my office VPN works through it (for which, there are NO 64-bit drivers, nor apparently ever will be), so I'm kind of excited to try this out. Anyways, I figure I'd rather have a fixed-size virtual disk, so I stop (shutdown, not hibernate) the XP instance, reconfigure, wait forever while it 'creates' a 64 GB disk file, and then try and start my XP instance back up -- it tells me it cannot start. Retried (repeated the entire sequence - create new instance, shut down, try to make a sized disk) a couple of times, but I am unable to bring the instance back up after reconfiguring the virtual disk...

    2) Are these instances portable? Assuming I've got all my development tools installed inside one, is it going to be possible to zip up the .vhd/.vmcx files, copy them onto any other Win7 box with VirtualPC enabled, and drop them into place? This could easily eliminate the need to lug a laptop across the country when I go out to the office HQ semi-regularly.

Well, those are my two main questions. Any comments appreciated!

As for number one, I haven't figured out a way to do this, and I've been trying to do this myself for the last two weeks.

As for number two, it should be able to work, you might just have to try setting it up to use the virtual disk instead of a new one it would create.
