    Any way to keep notebook on away from hibernate and without standby when closed? dell e1705 core duo 1.67 ge7900gs 1 gb ram mce2005 100gb hd

    Change the power settings by going to Control Panel->Performance and Maintenance->Power Settings. It will give you all kinds of options on what change. You can even disable hibernation all together.

    Many laptops get extra airflow in through the keyboard. It can be damaging for the LCD to get that much heat just wafting up through it. I have mine so it doesn't hibernate/standby when I close the lid, but I use that so I can move it easily, and it's only closed for a few minutes at a time.
