Can you notice some sort of a pattern (like : when opening up a new tab in FF, starting a download in Flashget, sending a message from MSN etc..) ? Does this only happen for internet related applications ? If so, then it could be a network related issue. How do you connect to the internet ? wired or wireless ? Did you try changing / upgrading network adapter drivers ?

browsers and flashget are randomly frozen. regarding AIM and MSN, they freeze every single time after i wake my computer from sleep mode.
seems like internet related apps only.
I connect to internet via school's wifi. could it be the vista updates? because i've been using the same drivers but it never happened before. Thanks.

its either virus or u have drivers incompatible with the current os.
ultimate automatically updates drivers, u may have too many drivers in ur system.

What anti-virus are you running? I remember I had the same issue with NOD32.
