Hi zfactor. I'm not personally using Vista because of problems like this. I was able to find a nifty article about the issue however. It is off site but has good info.

Check it out for your self at: http://apcmag.com/vista_activation

Hope this helps shed some light on the issue for you.

I bought a legit OEM copy of Vista from Newegg as well. I encountered the same activation crap as the OP. So I downloaded a Vista activation crack and problems solved. Vista doesn't even talk to the mothership anymore LOL, :p

yes but from what is stated the oem cracks will not work after the next sets of updates.. they are supposed to disable the bios exploit and the timer stop both of which are widely used now.. im tempted to do the same as i paid for this crap and man im so pissed now..

Don't worry because two things will happen.

    1) They'll piss off millions of oem legit users who'll need to get a fix when they have activation problems.

    2) They'll just crack it again, they always do. :D

I've been running WPA_Kill for over 3 years and my Vista crack for about 6 months. I have no doubt they'll crack Vista within a month if that.

Whats the exact problem? Its just saying you have a non-genuine version on the corners of the screen?

I believe that John B and maaron82773 have shed the needed light on the problem. Cracking software is not a viable solution.
