I keep switching between Firefox and Chrome but the last 3 months I've been using Firefox or Pale Moon only because of one thing...the interface...I hate Chrome's interface, bookmarks manager, the way its IE Tab opens new links in a new window rather than a new tab... I just hate it...
now after being used to Firefox and Pale Moon's speed......even though Pale Moon is slightly faster than Firefox thanks to some tweaks...
I just installed Chrome and boy it blows both them browsers out of the water!!!
I feel the same way like when I upgraded from Dial up to cable modem! it's that huge of a difference in snapiness of loading webpages.
To prove myself that I am not experiencing the placebo effect, I ran a few sites in Browser Benchmark and the difference is staggering....
I am talking about loading various forum sites within 2 to 3 seconds in chrome and taking up to 11 seconds in Firefox!
Both browswers have the same addons: Ad Block Plus, DoNotTrackMeh , Google Browser tracking Opt Out add on, LastPass, Xmarks, Thumbnail Zoom
Sorry Mozilla, as much as I loved your browser, it is so outdated in terms of performance
Had the difference been small, I would have favored Firefox purily because of its better interface. I can't say the same about addons anymore because Chrome's addons have come a long mile and almost every addon I use on Firefox is available for Chrome.
Bye bye Firefox turtle!

You provide very little info to be of useful help to even decide and the hardware also makes a difference in the browser speed and as you noted add-on can be a hit or miss with browsers usage. You said you tested the speed but as provide not details or specifics to provide any clearer information to base of. Also there is nothing stating what version of browser your using or what other tweaks you did as well to offset one from the other. The best test would be no add-on or plugins just straight browser default settings and test from there would be a more complete and unbiased results to see.
I can just say from my loading and using Chrome it is bloated and slow and loads unwanted tool-bars that slow my pc down with wasted cpu/memory time. So this result you gave was only one accounting that has not real way to independently test for the results. -
Chrome 28.0.1500.72
Firefox 22
No tweaks done except the tweak for Firefox to always display the latest version of a page:
In the Firefox address bar at the top, type about:config
Then type in browser.cache.check_doc_frequency
Change the value to 1 to force a cache refresh so that the page is refreshed automatically upon every visit.
Addons are the same for both browsers, AdBlock Plus, Xmarks, Last Pass, DoNotTrackMe, Google Browser Opt out, Thumbnain Zoom Plus -
Google Chrome (as well as Chromium and Canary) is significantly slower than Nightly (alpha build of Firefox) on both of my machines and that's with both browsers using similar set of addons (10 addons each) and with addons disabled, the difference is smaller but nothing to write home.
The only advantage Chrome has over Firefox for me is that it opens faster, but only by a second, which means absolutely nothing for me. -

That's the problem "a second" which doesn't add up to much overall one should be more concerned with how secure the broswer first before talking about one is faster or slower. That should be of primary concern when using either browser speed isn't the only factor that one should use to determine which broswer to use. There are a multiple of factors to consider on browser usages. -
Google is working directly with the NSA
I seriously doubt Mozilla is
no brainer..... -
NSA get their stuff from isp ne ways, so the better option is to unplug Internet.
Personally i dont see how security play much of a role in browser. Sites either employ security protocol or they don't, what the user can really do on their browser end? -
Mozilla is basically directly funded by Google.
Also, like Baii says, if you're afraid of the NSA, you better unplug altogether. -

Trying to tie two separate parts into one is a bit of a stretch. Also Google can be funded by Investment bankers as well or lobbyists. So your correlation doesn't say or do much? Unless you got specific info to say then say it or point the link to it??? -
There was a time when MSFT took a lot of public heat for their behavior. For some reason Google is revered for their behavior. As long as they support a political end. That being leftist. Un-touchable. Un-reproachable.
I'll probably get censured for saying this on NBR. And investigated for not using Chrome. Just hope they enjoy my electronic activities. -

huh? So now it's the leftist fault....that even a bigger stretch to make without any real factual logic to backup...then with hockymass attempted grabbing for straws..... -
its not long before you run out of 'real' facts when it comes to government or politics.....mostly opinion, lies, wealthy rip off artists
kind sir,
it appears you have one too many M6600's on your hands
PM me directly so I can provide a place of shipment to help you with this dilemma ! -
After using Chrome since 2010, i can safely say....
Screw Chrome.
Im sticking with 'Fox. -
Gotta love that Stormjumper. He's right you know.

What?
So Why Is Google Funding Its Own Competition In The Firefox OS? - Forbes
Not sure how I'm "grabbing at straws". -
StormJumper Notebook Virtuoso
Everyone gets funds from someone even their competitors and Forbes is business oriented reporting then consumer advocate. And funds go and come from anyone or any corporation to fund their business interest or to convey they have others interest at heart. And Google I can say isn't whole invested by mom/pop investors but larger investors with money interest involved. My point is anyone can be funded by whomever and whatever corporation to their interest or investor interest and that trying to separate from the other is a stretch to make. -
Do you even know what the point you're trying to make is? I sure as hell don't.
I'm saying that Google directly funds Mozilla. That is a fact. Who Google is funded by is irrelevant. -
Only the first four posts in this thread talk about browser performance. Then it went off track.
In these benchmarks Firefox out performed Chrome http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/chrome-27-firefox-21-opera-next,3534-12.html
as much as I hate Google Chrome, it pwns Firefox!
