I just purchased an Asus 1215n eee and have a simple question. This is my first netbook and first piece of hardware without an optical drive. I would like to install a fresh copy of windows 7 simply because I find it to always run better when you get rid of all those annoying programs it comes pre-installed with. does anyone know how id go about doing this? there is no recovery partition present on the pc.
thanks in advance!

A better choice would to use a flash drive since obviously its his first pc to be without a cd drive... A google search will show you the way

download n to flash
download a win 7 copy of your choice
get a 4gb usb drive
make a usb bootable win7 using ntoflash -
use this link to download the super easy to use windows tool. You do need an Windows 7 ISO and a 4 GB usb stick. How To Create Bootable Windows 7 USB To Install Windows 7 From USB Flash Drive (Using Windows 7 DVD/USB Tool)
But there are some downsides to a new install. I had almost 4 hours wasted when I installed the 2 new GPU drivers. The intel GPU only wanted to go to max 1152x720 pixels. While 1366x768 is the standard. Im now using some older drivers to not have this problem.
GL with the install. -
i just bought a 1215n as well.
I would have gone thru the hassle of reinstalling windows but, to be honest, the bloatware isnt hard to remove and, once its gone, the netbook runs like a charm
