does anyone know of a good preferably free program for controlling audio output. sort of like the one windows has built it but that can do more than control the volume. something with an eq and a way to control my surround sound.

i don't if anything like this exists but if i does i would appreciate recommendations.

Something like SRS Audio Sandbox ?? (but its not free)

What is your notebook and sound card? There is a similar app called Toshiba Virtual Sound (originally intended for Toshiba notebooks) but the modded version can be installed on any notebook if it has one of the supported audio chips.

Or you can use application specific audio enhancing plugins like DSP plugins for Winamp or Windows Media Player.
