i have converted some of my dvd's and bd's to mkv's but i still find them too big. so i am planning on converting them to iso files to further save on disk space.
can anyone recommend me the best iso creation software?
    thanks

Just do some better encoding :p

Either way, maybe MagicISO can help you.

EDIT: Woah, OP, we registered same month, less than 10 posts in difference and both 11 'reps' :O

actually i think i did some good encoding as the iso turned out to be the same size as the mkv's with imgburn.
    would magiciso make a difference?

I think its hard to compress something that has already been compressed a lot, trvelbug.

Iso is not going to compress the contents. An ISO file is just an image of the original contents of a DVD, with all the properties of the disc preserved. As myDooM said, you need to cut down the size when encoding the video.

oh ok. i thought an iso compresses a file somewhat like a rar, anyways i did compress the files/discs a lot and i was just wondering if i could compress it further still.

Try encoding in h.264 if you have not already done so.

What settings are you using? I'm using pretty high H.264 settings, and my DVDs get down to about 2GB, and the Blu-Rays are between 6 and 8GB. Which seems right about perfect.

You want to keep the very high quality or what? I mean it's possible to encode movies down to 500-800 MB, even though they keep a resolution like 720p and a good quality... But keeping it bluray quality will be that big.
