    hey guys, i´m soon re-installing win7 (getting ssd) and just thought about which programs i will use.

    imo it sucks to have notepad,wordpad and then normally another notepad for scripting (autoit,vb,..).. so i thought i should replace all notepad by one real one (+ using openoffice). But which one?

    I thought about scite.. it support autoit great, also has some other nice languages. But not too many as i saw :/ .. also i was thinking of implementing a language which isnt support yet by my own. but i´m not sure how hard/easy that will be.

    Alo thought about: notepad++,notepad2,programmer notepad.. but they all dont rly support autoit :/ .. no syntax highliting and also no drop down which shows the commands (e.g. u write @windo and it will show all commands which are possible).

    Any other notepads u know and can recommend? Very important: a fast one. i use it for everything.. if i open a simple todo.txt i dont want to wait years (okay will not hapen on ssd). Should be fast,stable and supports what i need :p (autoit,vb,php,html,.. common stuff :) )

    thx bb gn8

    notepad2, notepad++, many others.

    don't bend to the temptation to use one of these notepad 'replacements' as a whole replacement for the native msft notepad. a lot of installers and system management tools depend on having the native msft notepad available without interference. but for writing code, html, etc, the thrid parts text editors can be much more useful than notepad.exe.

    wordpad
    openoffice writer
    notepad
    3rd party app for scripting

    too much ! :(

    why too much? Use the right tool for each job. The apps are (mostly) free and very small on a hard drive. Give them a try.
