Unlike microsoft I use both halfs of my brain. HP and others are selling windows 7 32 bit operating systems and it is not always clear which computers have them. Go ahead find me a single example of factory installed windows 7 that is not on a 64 bit processor.

    example: all netbooks

what are you talking about anyway? the HP shop clearly states: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
the only example of 32bit I found was the HP Mini which does not support 64bit and it is stated as Genuine Windows 7 Starter 32-bit.

edit** just checked Dell and it's the same

Erm, if you go to any local retailer, guaranteed 50-75% of the computers will have 32 bit. Most laptops can only hold up to 4GB ram, so why would anyone in this situation bother putting on a 64bit OS? For the sake a few hundred MB?

Erm, it's not just about the RAM capacity. There are also benefits related to security and processor power using 64-bit o/s. There's plenty of discussion on this here and across the interwebs.

Seems like most laptops sold are Win7 64bit Home Premium. People who'll buy 32bit Win7 are probably XP users.
