biometrics fingerprint scanner drivers NOT working in Windows 8 on Dell Latitude XT2

I've searched everywhere for a solution and I just can't seem to find the answer

I just received a dell latitude xt2 with windows 8 installed. Everything works great except the fingerprint scanner. Drivers work, but in Biometric Devices it says there are none installed in the laptop, meaning windows 8 does not recognize the biometric fingerprint reader that is built into the laptop.

What can I do? What drivers should I be using with Windows 8?

 

Hit Dell's driver page, Dell had a lot of fingerprint sensor issues with Windows 8 by the way.

 

i did, didn't help, like i said the device appears in device manager, but under Biometric Devices it says "windows did not find any biometric devices on this computer"

 

From a little googling around, did you install the Dell Control Vault software? You could also try to force the driver installation via the device manager.

the driver does install fine, but biometric devices does not recognize the device as a biometric device, says no devices found, but it appears in device manager

If it's new, and never worked, it's time to call Dell tech support

(I have a Dell guy working on a laptop three cubes down from me)
