    blank desktop after login - vista home basic

    for some reason when i log-in to vista, my desktop is black and no icons and taskbar and orb the only way i can access is if i press ctrl+alt+del to access task manager and access run

    how do i solve this because it happens everytime?

    I assume you have tried waiting a couple of seconds?

    Else:
    reasons I could think of - graphics driver - can you get a version number?

    ...or messed instal.

    Did it start out of nowhere, did it start when you got the computer?

    Another place you could look is system logs, also check windows error reporting.

    Is this issue on a laptop....if it is it might be your power setting....my asus turns off the desktop just like your issue to save power in battery save mode..... try changing power settings

    Check in your event logs to see if anything relevant got logged, including any problems relating to user accounts - it's possible that your user profile is not getting saved properly when you shut down and the system is just booting you into the default user profile each time you start it up.
