    blue screen of death? problem?

    Unexpectedly, my vista OS went to the blue screen of death...can anyone diagnose this problem for me? (i'm a newbie at this)

    also, i accidently used the EZ cleaner registry tool...would this have anything to do with it?

    Very likely, yes. You may be able to restore the registry to its former state using Windows' System Restore feature (assuming you didn't disable it).

    Personally, I recommend avoiding registry cleaners unless you have a specific problem that you think could be registry-related. There's little to no benefit of cleaning the registry in most circumstances (at least, none that anyone can seem to prove), and the drawback can be huge. Plenty of people here will disagree with me though.

    Not sure about EZ Cleaner, but with some registry cleaners I used there's a built in feature that makes backups to changes that it made.
