CyberVisions Martian Notebook Overlord
As an example, I currently have 6 drives connected to my HDX (7 if you count my ReadyBoost FlashDrive), with 4 of them being externals - 2 Seagate 320gb SSD's, 1 Maxtor 300gb and a newer Maxtor 750gb external. The other 2 are my primary and secondary 320gb internal drives.
I use the 750 to back up data from all of the other drives. It saves them on the drive in the following configuration:
Maxtor 750gb H:
Root Folder: Computer Name (CyberVisionsHDX)
CyberVisionsHDX Folder: Folders C, D, F, G, H, I (each drive letter - E is my Restore partition so it doesn't get backed up)
Folder C: Documents; Music; Multimedia
The rest is the same - if you were to navigate to the Maxtor750gb drive and look at the folders and files, you will see them as they appear on the drives they were backed up from. In fact, I'll sometimes run the file (say a music or movie file) directly from the backup drive.
The backup file program is easily setup - after installing, it took about 5 minutes to set up the schedule and files I wanted to back up on a regular basis. I also back up files to the Seagate SSD's using the same program. Since Seagate owns Maxtor, their backup programs are interchangeable. You can get a Seagate 320gb SSD for about 80-90 bucks; 750's for just over a 100.
The reason I didn't mention Western Digital is that their quality has gone downhill considerably over the last 20 years when they were comparable to Seagate. Nowadays, they're flooding the market with cheaper drives, but you get what you pay for. I've seen WD drives in new systems fail after a year or less. Since I used to be a QA manager myself, I don't tend to deal with products that have spotty performance. -
EDIT: Unless I got your question wrong. -
Cobian Backup if you want a real program. If not, a good sync tool like the MSFT SyncToy, GoodSync, or Free File Sync are all worth trying.
Google is your friend. -
