here is my situation. i have an account set up how i like it, and i would like to copy that account so i can set up the copy as a standard user account. is there a way to do this in vista? i had no problem copying my account over all of the accounts in xp and that worked fine, but i can't seem to get this done in vista. word.

hmmm... i guess not? man. microsoft is so clueless!

Are you saying you want to make a copy of that account so you can restore it later or do you want to keep 2 accounts on different computer kept in sync?
-
what i want to do is copy a user account to another account. so i can have two exact copies of my configuration/files/etc on the same computer. one will be an administrative account, one a standard.
now, if i can accomplish that, i would like to go a step further and sync the accounts so if i make a changes on one account, it changes the other as well. hopeful thinking there...
in xp, i had no problem overwriting one account with another. this was nice, as i could easily make a copy of my configuration/files/etc. i can't get it done in vista. -
There's a program from Microsoft called SyncToy that may or may not do what you need. Might be worth checking into. Link to SyncToy below. You can also use Task Scheduler to have SyncToy run nightly or whatever time you want it to run.

synctoy is totally sweet. it can't do what i want with the profiles, though...
i figured out how to copy a profile, but if i change the profile type of the new profile, i can't log on. damn you, vista! hahahhaha... oh, well. so i have a copy of my profile, which is sweet, but i still wish i could figure out how to make it a standard user and still log on. argh!
can i copy or sync user accounts?
