ok so if i were to buy a new laptop would i be able to use the product key on another system as the installed os has the manufacturers OEM key in use from the origional factory image...
i dont see why not because i do officially own the key and i dont have to use htat key on that laptop as it hasnt been installed onto it yet with that key only the OEM key...
i would think that i am technically not voiding the eula as i am using two different keys for both installs.
i do realise that i would not then be able to use that key on the laptop or any other system after that but that wont matter and i also realise i wont be able to fresh install my laptop without all the crapware pre installed...
but any guidence would be appreciated
cheers

woops sorry i just realised i posted this in the windows 7 forum i think it belongs in Windows OS and software... mods can you please move it there for me???
thanks -
The key is of no use. They have been disable by Microsoft. Beside acer etc doesn't require the key you can restore the system with the backup you made.
If you google it the coa numbers as been disable to stop pirates. I had this issues with a HP desktop I ended up buying a copy of vista to get it up and running. -
The OEM key printed on the bottom of the laptop has been deactivated, though it can be reactivated if you call Microsoft.
However, no matter what, that key can only be used on the computer that it is attached to. Even though factory images technically come with a manufacturer's key, the key that is considered to be "in-use" is the key printed on the bottom of the laptop. -
oh damn...
im guesing this is to stop people going into shops and flogging keys of the bottom of laptops etc etc and i guess also to stop my idea... lol should have known...
thanks guys
can i use my key on the bottom of my laptop for another PC?
