    can't open windows update site

    hi! need a bit of help here. i am wondering why my browser can't connect to some sites (just hangs) like microsoft, uk lottery, and loads of others but can connect to google or bbc or some other sites???

    any info guys???

    clean the bloatware off of your computer. also, update your virus protection, firewall, and any other security software you have. then run full virus & spyware scans.

    also, what are the specs of your laptop and what security software do you run?

    if activex is disabled it also happens on sites that require it, microsoft update for example.

    Use Internet Explorer for Windows Update, not Mozilla Firefox or Opera or anything good like that...
