Suddenly, I can no longer bring up secure pages(pages that have the lock showing in the address bar). Banking login pages, phone company login pages, etc. Help!!! I have gone into tools/internet options/ security, and both ssl boxes are checked. Any help would be appreciated!

    HP Pavilion dv 2000 laptop
    Vista Home Edition

Ok...by "bring up" the webpage I mean when I click on the link, "this page cannot be displayed" appears. I've tried Firefox = same thing happens. Pop up blocker is disabled in IE 7.

It could be some firewall that's blocking it... either on your machine or some other firewall between you and the internet. https uses port 443, while regular http uses port 80.

The fact that you can't access it in more than one browser makes me think it's likely a firewall issue.

If you're in an office, talk to the computer/network support people.

You said you tried out Firefox right? How did you like it? It's an excellent program and i recommend you use it for a while and see if it grows on you. :)

Yes, I tried Firefox, and I liked it. Seems much faster than IE on my machine.

FF is much better that IE in my experience...keep using it and it'll grow on you.

And just think, your entire PC won't crash if FF goes down... :D I'm sick and tired of explorer.exe crashing if I use IE...

My firewall blocks IE. On purpose.

    LOL...

IE7 on Vista isn't bad at all IMO. But I still use Firefox most of the time... it's a little bit snappier, and I don't like IE's smaller stop/refresh icons as much.

I do like IE's security zones though... but I suspect most people wouldn't bother messing with it.
