hello
downgraded my system to windows 8 x 64
and now cant install intel gpu and wifi drivers
ill trued all compartiblity modes without succes((
all drivers from dell and intell websites.
this drivers for win7/win8.1/win10 and doesnot work on win 8
my cpu are 6300hq and 8260 ac wifi card.
thank you for any help
-
Why would you downgrade to Win 8?
-
couse later i will migrate entire win8 volume from my main systems.
now checking compartibility etc -
Do you've the latest .net framework ie 4.6.1? Sometimes apps are dependent on these framework. AFAIK, w8 support has ended and you'll need to be on w8.1 or the latest w8.1 update 3 for driver support and updates.
-
ye.. but its kind of stange: atleast win 7 drivers must do the job
its something like intel block wi8 string in setup config file( -
You can try modifying the inf file by replacing w8.1 strings with w8. But I'm unsure this method works or do worse things. To be safe, create a restore point before proceeding.

@Vasudev , can you provide more detailed info? where exactly inf file placed?
i found one in temp foulder (after driver unpack) but no windows strings was found(( -
Looked up intel's website, it seems you'll need to be on 8.1 to get the driver or else you're on default driver provided by MS.
To get the latest ISO from MS follow this link: https://www.microsoft.com/en-in/software-download/windows8ISO -
I wouldn't recommend doing that, since it can wreak your system. I thought that product was initially supported on 8 and later discontinued when 8.1 came out.
If you unpack your drivers using 7-zip or similar tools you will find some inf files. Beware that incorrectly modifying inf files can wreak your Hardware as well, so I recommend you not to try it. By the way, w8 can be uppgraded through store app and it downloads some 700 megs to get you on 8.1.
Give snappy driver installer a try/ -
@Vasudev probably you are right and i must upgrade atleast to win 8.1 .
thank you -
A clean install of Windows is recommended. I don't think you will find W8 drivers for Skylake.
I don't think there are any drawbacks of using W8.1 instead of W8. -
@SL2 win 8.1 more metro.. more telemetry etc
currently testing different rollup editions -
Not really more Metro. For instance you can boot directly to desktop in W8.1. There are ways to avoid the telemetry, as described in this forum.
Windows 8 is not supported anymore and won't recieve any more updates.

okey working solution AT YOUR OWN RISK
1)extract intel hd drivers
2) go to "Graphic" foulder and find *.inf file
3) open it with notepad, you wil find something like that:
"

4)i painted win 8.1 text with red, just paste same text in win8 part
5)Run Command Prompt as Admin.Type:
bcdedit -set loadoptions DISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS (enter)
bcdedit -set TESTSIGNING ON (enter)
6)Reboot, then install the driver and reboot again after install finish.
7)Enable again the Driver Signature Enforcement:Code:
bcdedit -set loadoptions ENABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS (enter)
bcdedit -set TESTSIGNING OFF (enter)Last edited: Jul 18, 2016 -
You're welcome. Its good to see if you're into modifying inf files. But be sure not to install intel GFX UI to avoid possible BSoDs, to be safe just install the driver only.
You can disable telemetry safely, there is little telemetry such as speech and ink and some diags and logs.Lnd27 likes this. -
i honestly trued 8.1 one more time))
as i understand win 8 is so called 6.2 and windows 8.1 is 6.3
is there are any spot in windows where i can change 6.2 to 6.3? -
I bet you can find download links for latest ISOs from MS itself. Its not worth to cause hardware failure due to incorrect registry mods.
-
Why dont you upgrade to 8.1 instead of going through all of this?
Windows 8.1 = Service Pack for Windows 8
And it'll install itself after installing all of the windows updates for Windows 8 multiple times
If you're worried about telemetry with it just download DWS and change your windows update to receive only important updatesLast edited: Jul 27, 2016Vasudev likes this. -
main idea is: intel tryed to force me to upgrade from 8 to 8.1... what next? wi 10?
i just wanna to use os with i bought as retail box and dont interested in any upgrades. (especially if they are free
)

Then you don't have a right to complain about it. You're using an unsupported operating system because you're stubbornly refusing to install a service pack. There's a big difference between a service pack like 8.1 and a full OS like Windows 10. Microsoft didn't make 8.1 mandatory for support for any shady reasons, there are a lot of bugs in 8 that Microsoft fixed in 8.1 and you're just setting yourself up for a LOT of headaches staying on 8.Lnd27 said: ↑main idea is: intel tryed to force me to upgrade from 8 to 8.1... what next? wi 10?

8 is fully unsupported by MS, while 7 and 8.1 are still supported. It's not Intel, and it's not an upgrade, it's a service pack, as others have said.Lnd27 said: ↑main idea is: intel tryed to force me to upgrade from 8 to 8.1... what next? wi 10?

Im really starting to think you're being stubborn for no reason. Like i and others has said 8.1 is a service pack to win8 which addressed a lot of issues that was reported. My system also came with 8 and it was pretty buggy until i updated to 8.1 when it was released. You'll solve your problem very easily if you just update to 8.1 like the rest of us did instead of sticking with a OS that MS quickly stopped supporting. If you wanna stick with windows 8 and continue to give yourself an headache then by all means go for it, its up to youLnd27 said: ↑main idea is: intel tryed to force me to upgrade from 8 to 8.1... what next? wi 10?

some people use XP, some - Vista.. just becouse they want/need it.
is not forum exist to help them?
in my case intel deleted 2 strings in Skylake Hd graphic inf file for no reason.
Not sure if it is a reason for me to upgrade.XD
Currently only problem with intel wi-fi card left ( but atm i 'm looking for replacement.
thank you -
You're not getting it. Its a service pack. Microsoft discontinued support for 8 because it was a DISASTER. There is absolutely NOTHING in 8.1 that isn't an improvement over 8. Quit being stubborn and just upgrade, seriously. You're making things incredibly difficult on yourself and you're going to find that the driver API between 8 and 8.1 is not the same so eventually you will run into things that are broken. Its stupid to go the route you are and dump decent hardware like the 8260 just because you are upset that Intel isn't supporting an OS that Microsoft doesn't support. Sure people use XP and Vista but they also know that they're on their own. 8.1 is a free upgrade to 8 and its got support for years from Microsoft. I don't understand your position. People with XP and Vista most likely have to stay with those OSes because of hardware support or programs that don't work but if you're running 8, you're choosing to run an unsupported OS just because you don't want to install a service pack which is what 8.1 is.Lnd27 said: ↑some people use XP, some - Vista.. just becouse they want/need it.

Its totally true that the forum is here to assist people but the best assistance we can give you is getting you to upgrade to 8.1. End of story.alexhawker likes this. -
@Ethrem, i honestly trued wi8.1 but i dont saw any improvements for my setup exp for driver support.
Also , i think that people can have a choice (even if their choice is stupid). -
So no improvements but what about problems? If you didn't have problems it makes no sense to downgrade to an unsupported OS.Lnd27 said: ↑@Ethrem, i honestly trued wi8.1 but i dont saw any improvements for my setup exp for driver support.
