    cant recover xp after installing vista.. recovery partition not working

    hi,
    i have upgraded from xp to vista, but unfortunately my audia, bluetooth and wifi not working on vista. want to restore xp but cant do it because recovery partition is not working. is there anyway to utilise my recovery partition to restore xp. please help

    Go into Control Panel, Select Administrative Tools>Computer Management then Select Disk Management under Storage.

    Right Click on the Disk Partition that your Recovery Partition is on and “Mark the Partition as Active”. Reboot your computer and you may be able to recover to XP.

    Good call. That should force the computer to boot to the recovery partition and allow you to reset your computer.

    What happened is Vista changed your Master Boot Record (or is it the Paritition Boot Record? Think it is the PBR in this case) so the HP Recovery Manager was no longer able to start. Setting the partition as Active forces the partition to boot, which should enable the Recovery Manager, which in turn should rewrite the PBR during the process putting you back to where you started.

    unless vista upgraded the NTFS rev level beyond what XP can handle.....
