    Hello evryone,

Guys I am in a hopeless situation, I have posted this issue in a few forums and I still did not find a cure for my problem.

The problem is that I have a MSI megabook m635 based lappy. It has a Turion MT-34 proc. 1gig ram, and x700 128 mb video.

Now whever I install the video drivers that came with the laptop evrythig is ok, but whenever I install the new mobility drivers (even omegas) and run the notebook on batteries (it woks when plugged in)
I get a black screen staring from the login screen of XP. But the system works since I can move the mouse and "find" the shutdown button at the login screen.

I tried clean installs, I tied installing it with Southbridge/IXP drivers and without them, nothing works. Am I missing something?

Any help will be grealy appreciated

    Thank You

Have you tried playing with powerplay? (disabling it, forcing it to run constantly)

This sounds odd. Powerplay definetly might have something to do with it as Vidko said. Try disabling it.

    Hope it helps,

Thanks for the reply guys, but I called the tech support and they told me that MSI notebook ONLY works with the ATI drivers released from MSI.

Now I dont know if they just said that to get rid of me, cuz the ATI site says that they do support MSI notebooks, but I guess thats it, its just weired that no one posted similar problems online.

If you have an ATI graphic card you can use official ATI drivers.

you need to uninstall the drivers and get the catalyst 5.8 version. i had the same problem as you and the older drivers fixed it. I'm using the omega version.

Oh I read about something like that.

Try using full Radeon Catalyst drivers, not the mobility version and use dhmodtool3, follow instructions, and it should be fine.

    Cheers,
