hey i keep getting the alert pop up that my virtual memory is low. i checked in task manager and theres a CCAPP.exe and its using 573,556K. this is by far the biggest thing taking up my virtual memory. i read that its part of norton antivirus but i now have Ad-Aware07. can i just delete NAV and will that get rid of the CCAPP.exe? will my computer be protected with just Ad-Aware?

If ccapp.exe is with norton, yes, if you uninstall it, it will go away. i woudn't say you'd be safe with just ad aware, as that is not even a AV. its a spyware remover. DL avast or any other free AV. turn on windows firewall if it isnt, and id say you are good to go

i downloaded avast but the main thing im worried about is that i play at Full Tilt Poker and im not sure what closing the firewall would do to that. how do i go aout closing the firewall? wouldn't hurt to try lol. i generally try to avoid messing with anything that could change my wireless settings.

I use Norton Internet Security 2008 and I haven't had any problems like that or otherwise.

What version are you using? Norton has come a LONG way with their 2007 and 2008 products.

Restart your computer. That might help. NAV 2008 is much better (even faster than avst, avg...)

Wouldn't use anything else. NIS 2008 is a fantastic Security Suite. It itegrates very well with Windows Vista and XP (I put it on my girlfriend's notebook which has XP).

I've actually considered Windows Live One Care.

    How is it?

Apart from getting rid of Norton (which sucks), set your pagefile settings back to letting Windows manage it. Please. You'll get greater stability *and* most likely performance.

It's actually pretty good. I like it. It integrates with the OS very well since it's made from MSFT as well. No extra processes run with it.

I may have to give it a shot once I get a Vista SP1 DVD.

    Hi dorado,

Mike from the Norton Authorized Support Team here responding to your post regarding Norton. The "ccapp.exe" file is an important part of Norton products and should not be disabled.

Although you may not have received an actual error message regarding this process, the fact that it is consuming many resources points to a possible problem with the executable . I would also suggest that you lower the size of your Virtual memory in Windows.

Please click on the link below and follow the instructions in the document to resolve this issue.

    CCapp.exe Fix and Instructions

Please let me know if this process resolves your issue.

    Thanks,

    Mike
