    changing names of boot entries

    hey, whats the best/most convienaint way to change the names of boot entries? i recently had to use the windows vista dvd to restore my mbr so now my vista and 7 entries have "(recovered)" at the end of them....and i don't like that....how do i change the name?

    If you are brave enough you could edit the hidden BOOT.INI file at the root of your hard drive and change it there, too.

    Pretty sure that Win Vista/7 don't use the boot.ini anymore.
    EasyBCDEdit is also another way to make changes to the BCD.

    I thought that might be the case as they are totally different how they work in the background. That was the method they used for the longest time though with 2000 & XP. I would like to think that there may still be a config file like this still in those OSes, but just located elsewhere. I could be wrong though.
