    chaning vista versions question

    I have vista home right now but want to get vista ultimate through my university because it's real cheap. if i upgrade/reinstall vista to ultimate will i have to reinstall all my programs and settings and all that or does it keep it for me. thanks!

    You'll have a choice of doing a clean install or an in-place upgrade. If you do an in-place upgrade, you should be able to keep your programs and settings. At least that's the idea. I've never actually done an in-place upgrade, so I can't say how well it works. But I wouldn't expect any problems... it's the same OS basically, you're just adding a few features.
