I just copied a random bit of chinese text from a web browser

当了太监,进了宫。, as you can see, it appears as standard characters. I'm using Google Chrome and it appears fine

However when I try to paste this anywhere within Windows, such as in iTunes, Windows Explorer, Internet Explorer it appears as square symbols. Chinese text is viewable within Word though. It's strange then that certain programs support chinese characters but Windows components don't.

    I'm using Windows 7 RC1.
Previously I was using Vista SP1 Home Premium and chinese text appeared prefectly fine throughout the system

Music in itunes appeared with chinese text however in Windows 7 all non-english music appears as square symbols.

Does anybody know a fix for this? Vista recognised chinese characters, but Windows 7 does not. I've tried installing the relevant language packs, but even they appear installed as square symbols when viewed from the dropdown list.

See if anything on this sevenforums.com thread provides any help; also, did you install the necessary fonts as well? You may have had them for _Vista, but may have to reinstall them for Win7 RC1.
