i recently updated to windows 7 on my HP laptop. Since then, i have noticed that everytime any kind of sound is going to play (generally after the system is idle), there would be some sort of clicking noise. something like the static noise you'd hear if u plug in your earphones. but it's just one distinct click.

For example, if my laptop is idle and my friend starts a conversation on msn, before the "new messeage" sound comes out, there would be the clicking noise. subsequently, there won't be anymore clicking noise, at least until the system goes back to idle again.

Another thing i noticed is that even if my earphones are plugged in, i can still hear it out of the speakers, and not from the earphones itself.

I tried my best to explain the problem and gave as much information as possible. hope u guys can help me out!

Assuming you have you have the LATEST sound card drivers from HP for Win7 or the correct version (32/64-bit), it sounds like a hardware problem... try to find specifically where it comes out, and contact HP for repair, or see with HP for possible solution.
