My computer Operating System is Windows XP, but this may not be relevant. when using Outlook Express for emailing, a window appears asking if you would like to free up disk space by "Compacting Messages" I always click cancel. Today, my small brother was using the computer and clicked yes.
For reasons I cannot understand, a large amount of messages have now been removed from my Sent Folder. It has retained messages pre December 08, but has lost all others from then up until yesterday, leaving those sent today intact. Do the compacted messages get stored somewhere on the hard drive? I hope they do, as I refer to them quite a lot. Thanks

Compacting messanges in Outlook Express... never hear of that...
Google... doens't help.
OK. You are sure messages have not been moved to a different folder (something like an archive)? Outlook does that...
Else: Did you interrupt the process or did it finish? -
