I dont know where to put this topic exactly so I will put here.
I want to learn how to make videos and the like but before I do I would like to ask for advice about the limits of copyright infringements.
If I record a demo from a game and then put that on the internet does that constitute copyright infringement? or if I record the making of a picture or animation in Adobe/Corel products etc.
Also, if I find a picture or a section of another video on the internet such as on youtube am I allowed to take a section of that?
Finally (I think) does editing any footage I take have any affect on copyright infringements?
Many thanks

I think YouTube has just won a Copyright claim on all its infringements, meaning it or its users (because YouTube won't release personal info) can't be held accountable for any may-be copyright infringements...
This of course doesn't mean the little man can do as he wishes however -
Didn't Youtube have to turn over all it's user data in this case?
I am not a lawyer, but...
Using someone else's video as a substantial part of your work, or using a substantial portion of someone else's video even as a small part of your work (and what is "substantial" varies according to the situation) can infringe both the right to distribution and the right to make derivative works. This can be very tricky even if you have lawyers to consult. You are safest using your own material if you intend to publish it on the internet. -
so it was like:
USER001 watched/posted.....
USER002 watched/posted..... -
as a webmaster of a blog i can tell you that using other intellectual works it is an infringment but just if you use it as a part of something you claim to be yours such as an article or a document etc. if you have to write or show something which belongs to somebody else keep into consideration to cite the source where you got it. in your case, as long as you post a video of a game you play and like on Youtube is not an issue at all. just say who the game belongs to and the title of the game

The legality will be dependent on what country you're in. If you're in the U.S., you might find this page about the fair use doctrine helpful:
