    1. is notebook hardware control worth (NHC) it? I currently have an n100 (CD1.83, 1G RAM, 80G HDD) which doesn't have packaged power management features besides screen brightness level and how long to stand-by after no activity. I've heard mixed reports about the program...will it hog too much of the system resources? Other known issues? Are there other options?

    2. what is the best dock program for XP? I don't care about the whole "if you want to look like a mac, buy a mac" argument...the one's i'm aware of are objectdock, RK launcher and Y'z dock...i'm really not after a widget, unless it it is phenomenal

    thanks all

NHC is an excellent program, the main reason being because of its power management. Alot of things can be done using it that will give you increased battery runtime. Its not a hig of a program, and provided you have a bit of RAM, you will be fine in running it.

i like NHC. i find it better to start the program yourself after the computer boots up. when i have it boot up with windows, my loading takes a bit longer.

as for a dock, i havent tried any for windows. im messing with some linux ones though. i personally dont see the huge deal about them, but i guess they are kinda cool
