I am having a problem with my laptop the cpu is maxed out and ram usage is around 80%. I closed all running programs the cpu is still at 100% but the ram usage dropped to 67% with only spybot firefox and nhc running, taskmanager is not showing what is using all this and I had to set the priority to high to get spybot to run or it will just use 2-6% of the processor so something else is also set to high priority and is hidden?

I did get a virus recently that disabled nearly everything taskmanager, run, cmdprompt, the start icon/win bar ect ect but all programs would still run and the lappy worked ok even with those issues. I have run avira free avg free and spybot multiple times avira seemed to get rid of the virus with help from me deleting a bunch of files that were added when it got the virus. I am wondering if maybe I did not get rid of some part of it?

Does anybody know how to figure out what is going on with my lappy or have any suggestions I can't listen to music without it being choppy even typing this what I type shows up quite a few seconds after I type it like a whole sentence later it will show up lol Thanks a lot guy's

I just unplugged my laptop and the cpu usage is gone way down to 10%? and when I plug it back in it shoots up to 100% again Anybody help me please? :(

Can you post a screenshot of your Task Manager with the process? Maybe there are some processes running which might be related to that virus, or maybe a new one.

Also, download the latest NOD32 Anti-virus, update it, and then fully scan your system in Safe Mode. It's the best, and it'll probably remove the whole virus. Buy it if you like it.

I think I may have found the source when I took the screen shot of the tskmgr I noticed avg command line scanner at 87% cpu usage I used that while in safe mode to get rid of the virus not sure why it started back up today though. I am going to get vista 64 soon as I make sure all my files are backed up correctly so I guess that will help clear my system of a bunch of crap and the remnants of the virus thanks alot any way I'll post the screen shots after I don't know what a bunch of these processes are that are running and have lost the patience to sort threw them right now lol

It means AVG is scanning your files in the background as you work. Search in it's settings, there must be something to turn it off.
