The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    there was a pretty good thread a couple weeks ago (or maybe it was just several posts within a thread; i don't remember exactly which forum it was on, unfortunately) about eliminating some of the useless running processes on XP. it included a link to a searchable database of processes -- what they do, how critical they are to your system, and recommended course of action.

    if anyone remembers that thread, or at least knows what web site i'm talking about, could you please post the link here?
