At least I think that's the problem....

Are there any security or GPE settings that would lock IE8 in place preventing another browser from becoming the default?

I have this machine that refuses to let either Opera or FF take over as default browser. The browsers themselves run fine but in control panel|default programs the only browser that is listed is IE8 and any change options are greyed out.

Both Opera and FF 'seem' to be able to claim default status from within their own setting. But as soon as you quit the browsers and restart IE8 is reset as the system default.

The user is running as administrator, the OS (Win7 pro/64) is all patched as of today.

    ??? and thanks!
