Could be a Realtek sound driver. Do you have a driver CD for that M14X?

Missing driver sends you to a troubleshooting site? I didn't know they did that now (then again, I haven't deleted my audio driver accidentally to be fair :p).

If you don't have a drivers disc as killkenny1 mentioned, you'll need to find out what the manufacturer is for your sound chip. The vast majority of the time, it's Realtek.

If your sound device shows up as "unknown" in Device Manager, you can download, install, and run this program to identify it. Or, you can try 3D chip; it has always treated me well. :)

if you run windows update, it might find the default microsoft audio driver for you. or, if you go into device manager (right click 'my computer,' click manage, find 'device manager' in the left-hand tree) and find the audio device under 'sound, video, and game controllers' with the yellow exclamation sign next to it--right-clicking it should give you the option to find/update the driver and the wizard will do pretty much everything for you from there.

The latter has almost never worked in my experience, and although the Update Manager might find the driver (under the Hardware updates), I've heard of some people having an issue (particularly certain Asus laptops) with using the Windows update tool to acquire their Realtek audio driver, where the acquired driver produced static and/or popping during Flash videos' audio playback.
