when you're on the desktop, and you are looking for a file called report.doc, you would press the letter R on the keyboard to quickly go to files that start with letter R.
then why is it that when I accidentally hit a different alphabet, and I try to hit the correct alphabet the second time, it won't go to files that start with R.
why is that?
why do I have to click a different window and then come back to the desktop to hit the correct key?
is there a way to avoid switching windows just because I hit the wrong alphabet key?

In what context is this query? Search engine?
cheers ... -
Possibly because it works like the search on a blackberry.
"r" = "r"
"r - b" = "rb"
"r - b - r" = "rbr" -
What am I missing?
I had never heard of being able to press a letter on the keyboard to get to a list of files starting with that letter, so after reading this thread I went to my Desktop, and pressed "r." Nothing happened. Then I tried the Fn key + r. Nothing happened. Then I tried Alt + r, Shift + r and as a last resort, Delete + r. Nothing, nothing and nothing. The only time I could duplicate being able to bring up a list of files/apps starting with any letter ws by pressing Start and going into my Search Pane to press the letter. So what am I missing, and how do I obtain this function?
