i was watching a short clip on divx web player yesterday, and the area around the movie got dark, making the video much easier to watch. unfortunately, this is only for divx. i was wondering if anyone knew of a program that could dim everything around the movie window? i tried a search for it and didnt get any luck
-
Link to the video or screenshot?
Also, do you mean you are looking for a program that will just dim the area around a web video or also one that will do it for a video you have on your hard drive? -
I think WMP does this aswell

I'm trying to remember an app/media player for that...mmm
Please try DivX Player (Not the web player).
I remember when I'm watching movies using the browser (DivX player) it automatically dims around the video.
It's so Cool... Tell me if it's the correct one. I'll try to find it for you.
Edit: I didn't read, you already said your watching videos using DivX web player -

Beware though, moving the windows while using this can get reeeeeal sluggish.
Use it only for stationary needs. -

Works fine on mine moving a playing movie around.

You can also just do the opposite. Brighten the video by adjusting the 'Overlay' settings in your graphic card settings. Most players use 'Overlay' mode.
