who knows what the software is called where you can toggle back and forth between desktop mode and laptop mode in your laptop. and if you know where i can get it from. i know the guys at bestbuy have something like this because one of the geek squad members said so....thanks...
-
i'm not sure what you mean by desktop mode and laptop mode?
-
Are you talking about switching from a stationary monitor and your laptop lcd? If you mean by that, then you shouldn't need to go buy an additional software because your computer should have a button or a shortcut key on your keyboard that allows you to switch back and forth.
-
will that make my processor run faster, i purchased a dell and their tech support said the laptop has a function where you can change it to desktop mode and your processor runs almost 2x as fast, thanks -
not exactly. he's probably talking about the ability of the cpu to clockdown between battery and a/c to save battery life. what kind of computer?
-
i bought the dell xps m140...i get it tomorrow... i believe it is a 1.73 processor, a buddy of mine said somehwere you can change it to make the processor run faster, i assume that will also bogg down the battery, the guy at best buy said they have software where they can toggle back and forth within modes....am i making sense
-
Yes, you want it so that when your computer is plugged into the wall it's running the cpu at the max with no power savings.
Try RM Clock:
http://cpu.rightmark.org/products/rmclock.shtml
It can override the auto speedstep features allowing you to set AC to more performance and Battery to more power saving. -
thanks i'll try that -
doesnt the laptop have the power options thing, where you can choose between the different modes ie laptop/desktop/max battery/always on ect.
-
Yes. Enhanced Speedstep is enabled automatically in AC and Battery modes using "default" settings. Programs like RM Clock allow for a tweaking these features.
I almost forgot speedswitch is also well liked... -
I have Notebook Hardware Control (NHC) which you can put max battery or full performance.
