    diffrent way to turn off indexing

    when i first got my lappy i was trying to streamline thing to get better gaming performance,i was told turning off indexing helped so i did so.I went the normal route as per the main thread in this forum but was told of a more complete way that i can't fully remmber but i know that you have to type services in the search box and the option is in this list some where.thx for any help :)

    scroll down the services list to Windows Indexing Services, right click->properties-> disable it, restart

    For turning off services, always use "services.msc" from start>run....

    there you can look for indexing service... and disable it or keep it to manual or whatever...

    I don't know if you were looking for this, but anyway... see if it helps.

    Btw, what OS is it? XP? Vista?
