i downloaded a file from my friend using msn, but i can't find it anywhere on my pc. the download finished successfully.
anyone know what the problem is?
i think it might be something to do with windows blocking the file for security reasons, but i don't know how to fix this.

check if it is inside my documents folder called: My Received Files

Maybe disable your firewalls and try again because it could have gone blocked which is the probable solution.
Anything else would be a virus/trojon on your computer. Try a scan once to just to make sure. -
ok thanx. the file definitely isn't in my received files, and i can't disable my firewall because i'm part of a network.
so i guess it's a no go.
the weird thing is that i have transferred this type of file with the same friend before and it has worked. -

What was the destination file where it was downloaded to? It is most likely in there. Check the default location of where it was downloaded to

You can try using the Search function for files modified/accessed in the last day.

If you look in the settings for MSN IM I think you can specify where it saves files. The default path should be visible there. It's really slow to transfer files though, I'd just stick with email next time.

well, what kind of file was it? MSN will let you download files from other people and show a "complete" download, but if it is a cautious file (.exe, even .mp3), MSN will delete it just incase it may be a virus. I know it happened to me when i download a certain version of msn messenger.
