hi, I was wondering how I could dual boot windows vista + windows 95 with windows vista installed first. Would I need an external floppy drive or how would I do it ? This is a serious question

then why do a lot of people do it with 98/xp?
microsoft has it;s own guide on how to do it with xp
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306559

I just don't want to uninstall vista to do it... Couldn't I just make another drive and install it there?

    ok, I created a w: called "windows 95"
it has 3gb's of space and is formatted to fat32
    windows 95 osr/2 is fat32
so, how do I install it on the w:

edit: If i get a cd version of the windows 95, (not the one with 22 floppies) do I need a floppy boot disc?

on the microsoft website, it says to install windows 95 first. I have another partition, the w: that is seperate from the c:. If during installation, I never mention the c: and tell windows 95 to ignore it, will anything from vista be overwritten?

You'll need Win95 on any type of media that your BIOS can boot from. Installing it is the easy part, what I am uncertain of is the Master Boot Record... Win95 might overwrite it and render your Vista install unbootable (this can be fixed with a Vista disc).

There are a lot of dual boot guides on the 'net, and there is at least one that explains how to install Windows xx after Vista, and how to repair the MBR without a Vista OS disk. I'm even pretty sure there is one on this board, and that I posted in that thread. Search/browse for a while and I'm sure you'll find it.

I have never seen a guide about vista and 95 and I can't find any here

I just want to know the following questions

    1. If I use the floppy boot disc on an external floppy, can I boot from that?
    2. If Windows 95 installs on the w:, will it actually work?
    3. When 95 is first installed, and I start the computer, only windows 95's option will come up right?
    4. If I use the vista home premium recovery dvd, will that make it so I can use both os's?
    5. If everything gets messed up, will the vista recovery fix it?

I didn't say Windows 95 - I said Windows xx (which means any type of Windows product). This is the thread I was talking about:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showpost.php?p=3070326&postcount=1

Read the entire thread, to include my post at the very end. Visit the link I provided. If it works for XP, it might work for 98 or 95. I have no idea, but all you can do is try.

OK then, I think you should try something like VMware or VirtualPC for this, a lot safer.
