Does anyone know if it is possible to have this kind of setup ?

That is instead of clone view(both monitor showing the same thing, that is useful for presentation), I can operate independently in either one such as watching video in one and working with text in the other ?

I am doing that as we speak. :) I use a dual monitor setup off of my laptop - my 17" SXGA desktop monitor is primary and the laptop's 15.4" display is secondary.

Do I need special support or any notebook with LCD and a VGA out port would be good enough ?

Anything capable of running Vista should be able to support dual monitors. A VGA port is fine.
