Can anyone suggest a good software that would allow me to copy portions of dvd movies and edit?

Hi Mech! Long time, no hear.
You can download DVD Fab Decrypter (the free version) and it will remove copy protection from commercial DVDs (that you own, of course) and copy the files to your hard drive; you can then use a DVD authoring program (even the one that came installed on your DV) to copy/edit some, or all, of it.
By the way, how's that DV treating you? -
Hey Sea, glad to hear from you. I have been going through some tough times, mostly at home, but we are on the mend. The DV works like glass. I love it. On the Fab, can I just select certain chapters, or segments, and does the sound match the video. I currently use isofter dvd platinum, but the quality is not that good. I have been editing clips for programs at our church and want to upgrade, but not to Adobe Proffesional prices.
I really have missed these forums, nice pic by the way. -
To extract exact copies of pieces of movies, use DVD Shrink in re-author mode or AVI DeMux, after DVD Fab HD Decrypter to get it on the hard drive. All these progs are free, but may take some Googling to find.

They have a bunch of different products and you can download them (full versions) and try free for 30 days (I think); see if any of those appeal to you. -
