    i just got my laptop and tried to put in a dvd and i says i need a dvd encoder when i try to play it in windows media player. is this normal and where do i get one? thanks

    Use Virtual Lan, AKA VLC player. It plays anything...it's free.

    You can also request Cyberlink PowerDVD which is standard for all dell systems. All you have to do is call Dell's Tech support, and you should be receiving it in about 2 business days.

    This is normal for whenever you do reformat of your laptop. It is software that reads DVDs.
