    does anybody know what the best free downloaded software is best for avi to dvd conversion for movies?

    I haven't used any free software, just because I never found anything that could beat Nero Express. I would suggest downloading the trial for that.

    I apologize for not being able to help out more, but all of the free programs I have used either lack important features (menu creation, joining two video files, etc) or put nasty watermarks on so you are convinced to pay for the full version.

    Your best bet, that I know of, would be to get the trial of Nero and use that. That does a great job. The menu creation isn't as detailed and cool as Roxio 7.5 but it is a lot more stable (for me at least).

    Surely someone knows a good AVI to DVD app that has a lot of good features.

    It also depends on wether or not you want the extra stuff, like menu creation. I prefer to have that feature. Maybe it's not something you'd need.

    Yea i agree with Elias, NERO vision express is the best. At least thats what i thought he was talking about, instead of nero express, which is the more user-friendly version of the NERO burning ROM. Nero Vision express is what your looking for.
