    easy Laptop backup to desktop program?

    im looking for a program that can backup my laptop's harddrive as a whole to my desktop. it must be very easy like with all presets and require only the press of a button because i will be doing it on a daily basis. laptop will be connected with firewire and i will start backup just before i sleep so backup time probably wont be a problem. i do perfer an image format so i can do an instant restore without losing productivity.

    ive been looking for the same thing because im going to reformat and once i get a clean state of affairs i want to be able to restore to that instead of having to reinstall programs that i wont have the discs to in college..... can't find anything

    Acronis True Image will do it. You can do a image of your entire drive or do incremental images.

    newegg has the downloadable version for $35 which is cheaper than the acronis website - this is how I bought it. You will still get the updates and support from the acronis site. If you buy from Newegg you will get a email with your registration info and info on how to download.

    I tried Nortons Ghost a few times but True Image worked much better for me.

    what about the window's backup? will that work for complete backup that i can reformat then load up?
